No-Bake Cookies, My Moms Recipe

By

My family has always made these no-bake cookies and they are my all time favorite. I just finished making a batch so thought I would share it with you.

WHAT YOU NEED

  • 2 Cups Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup Oleo (stick butter)
  • 1/2 Cup Milk
  • 2 Tablespoons Cocoa (more or less)
  • 3 Cups Oatmeal
  • 1/2 Cup Peanut Butter

HOW TO MAKE THE COOKIES

Combine the sugar, butter, milk and cocoa in a large pan on the stove. Melt together. Bring to a rolling boil and let boil for 2 minutes ONLY! (If more then 2 minutes cookies will harden before you get them out of the pan, if not quite 2 minutes then the cookies will not harden on the wax paper). Remove from heat after 2 minutes. Add the peanut butter and stir until mostly melted. Add oatmeal and stir until coated with chocolate. Drop by spoonfuls onto waxed paper. (fast enough that the cookies don't harden before you get them on the wax paper)

Measure out 3 cups of oatmeal and have peanut butter ready to add.

The pictures make my mouth water! It seems like a simple recipe and one that children would love as an after school snack. I am a big fan of almond milk and will try this using this subsitution for cow's milk. Thanks for posting this good treat.

These are yummy. A former co-worker used to make these and bring them in to share for treats. So good!
